Islamorada Fishing Report September 21, 2014

imagejpeg_2imagejpeg_0 (1)imagejpeg_0 (2)The Black Fin Tuna Fishing offshore on the humps in the Florida Keys has been very good. There have been fish in the 3 to 20lb range being caught and live baits are getting the bigger fish offshore. The Mahi fishing in the Florida Keys has been better the last few days with fish from schoolie to gaffer range being report caught offshore in the 500 to 1000 foot range. We spent a lot of time fishing the reefs and wrecks this week and had some good Yellowtail Snapper fishing in the 70 to 90 foot range in front of the Lighthouse. The reef has also had a lot of Bonitos showing up. Also on the reef there’s been King mackerel, and a couple grouper. The colder weather should be starting soon and moving more Kingfish and Sailfish to Islamorada and the Florida Keys the next few weeks. We did some Shark fishing this week also an caught a nice 100lb Lemon Shark. Had some good weather the last week, so there were a few boats that caught some Swordfish this week, but all fish were on the smaller size. Check out the triple header on Bonitos pictured to the right.
